Underdog Story from Greenville, NC
I don’t know if this qualifies for your underdog story or not,but
here goes.On August the 8th 2010 , I was diagnossed with stage 4 lung
cancer . I had the largest tumor they had ever seen on a trachea and it
was crusing mine to the point I had an opening the size of an inkpen in
which to breath thru .They had no clue how I was even able to breath
and I walked in under my own power . They treated it with chemotherapy
and radiation treatments . These lasted til October 21st 2010 and I
returned to work on October 25th 2010 with no surgry . Now niether I or
the doctors knew, but one single stem cell from the lung cancer escaped
and went to its favorite hideout and matastised itself there and that
was the brain . I went for a check up in March of 2011 and complained
of headaches and they did an MRI and found that tumor . On March 23rd
2011 , they cut a hole in the side of head and did the brain surgry and
removed the tumor . On March 26th 2011 I was back home and May 16th
2011 I was back to work and have been cancer free since then . Never
once did I go oh whoo is me or why me or even when am I going to die .
I just looked at them and said , ” Ok , what do we do now . Ok , lets
go ” Going from such a deadly disease to being cancer free in such a
very short time and to be extremly healthy and fully functioning is not
anything anyone thought would be my outcome . Even if my story is not
the one for the underdog , I hope it is enough to give hope to those in
need . Thanks for reading , Ken
